Providing these alternative commuting options also helps the state and local jurisdictions meet their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goals. Robust public transit and active transportation networks can also benefit private companies by allowing them to dedicate less of their property to parking, or by helping them meet their own GHG reduction goals.
